Terms of Service

1. The service

Barakah Stories provides Islamic-friendly bedtime stories for families to read and listen to inside the app. Some stories are free, others require either one of your monthly free credits or an active Premium subscription.

2. Your account

You sign in with a verified email address. You are responsible for keeping access to that mailbox secure. Accounts are personal to your household; please do not share sign-in links publicly.

If you are under the digital age of consent in your country, you may only use Barakah Stories with your parent or guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.

3. Free tier and credits

• Browsing, previews, and free-tier stories are available at no cost once you sign in.
• Free credits are granted on a calendar-month basis and unused credits do not roll over to the next month.
• A credit is consumed only when you intentionally unlock a premium story. Once unlocked, you can re-read and re-listen to that story for the rest of the month at no extra cost.

4. Premium subscriptions

• Premium currently costs €12.55 /mo and renews automatically each month until you cancel. Pricing and benefits are shown on our pricing page.
• Payments are processed by Stripe. You authorize us, via Stripe, to charge your selected payment method for each renewal.
• You can cancel at any time from your account page. After cancellation, your Premium access continues until the end of the current billing period; you will not be charged again.
• EU/EEA right of withdrawal. By subscribing and starting to listen to or read paid content, you expressly request that we begin providing the digital service immediately. You acknowledge that this means you lose the 14-day right of withdrawal once content has been streamed/served, in line with the EU Consumer Rights Directive.
• Refunds outside the situations required by mandatory consumer law are at our discretion. Reach out to hello@barakahstories.com and we will look at each request fairly.
• Complimentary access granted by an admin (for example to family members) is provided as a courtesy and may be revoked at any time without compensation.

5. How you may use the content

All stories, audio, transcripts, artwork, and surrounding material on Barakah Stories are licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use inside the app. You may not:

• download, screen-record, scrape, or redistribute the content;
• circumvent or attempt to disable the access controls (free credits, premium gating, content protection);
• use the content for performances, broadcasts, or events accessible to people outside your household without our written permission;
• feed our content into a machine learning model or other automated system without our written permission.

We are not a download store and we do not offer print or export features by design. Quoting short excerpts for personal, educational, or review purposes is fine.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or to other users’ accounts;
• probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the service except as part of a coordinated disclosure with us;
• use the service in a way that violates applicable law or that is harmful to children, families, or our community.

7. Service changes and availability

We are an early-stage service and we may add, change, or retire features. We will not materially reduce the value of an active paid subscription without offering a refund or a credit for the unused portion. We aim for high availability but we cannot guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

8. Termination

You can delete your account at any time from your account page. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with notice where reasonable, or immediately in case of abuse, fraud, or legal risk.

9. Liability

Barakah Stories is provided “as is.” To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer law.

10. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the European Union. If you are a consumer resident in the EU, you also benefit from the mandatory protections of the law of your country of residence. Disputes can be brought before the competent courts of the European Union or the courts where you live, where consumer rules so allow. The European Commission also provides an Online Dispute Resolution platform.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or in the app at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
