A glimpse inside
Seventeen-year-old Rafi’s DIY flood sensors on Jakarta’s Ciliwung River start returning strange night-time readings from a kampung node he donated to a boy named Amir. When the data points to pollution from a JayaPalm factory substation—also the sponsor of the scholarship competition he desperately needs—Rafi is pressured to hide his findings. Torn between his family’s financial crisis and the harm to river-side residents, he prays for guidance, keeps the third node in his presentation, and quietly reports the data to an environmental blog. The story follows the fallout: JayaPalm’s anger, his disqualification, a government investigation into the factory, and an unexpected invitation from a university lab. In the final scene, supported by his father, mentor, and kampung kids, Rafi installs a new community-funded sensor on a bridge as the call to prayer drifts over the dark river.
