A glimpse inside
Faizan feeds the neighbourhood cats every snowy afternoon in Melbourne, comforted by the bright ring of Chotu’s bell. When a storm hits and the bell sounds from a dangerous, hidden place, he walks away in fear. The next day, with Parveen Aunty’s help and a simple thermometer, he learns how to make a warm shelter in the snow. Alone in the quiet yard, he hears the bell again—this time from a deep drift. Remembering the freezing bowl and the low red line, he pushes through the cold, crawls into the snow, and hauls Chotu out to safety, tucking the shivering cat into the little box house as the bell rings softly beside the rising red line.
